The price of Brent crude oil rose from $64 to $76 due to the Iran-Israel war, and then stabilized at around $73-74. Following this increase, fuel prices in Turkey were raised three times in five days. In many cities, the prices of gasoline and diesel exceeded 50 TL. The cheapest fuel is sold in Istanbul, while the most expensive is in Hakkari.

The price of Brent crude oil was at $64 per barrel before the war, but it rose to $76 due to the conflicts. Subsequently, oil prices stabilized in the $73-74 range, which reflected as an increase in fuel prices in Turkey.

3 PRICE INCREASES IN 5 DAYS

Following the rise in oil prices, consecutive price increases were made to fuel prices in Turkey:

  • June 13, Friday: Gasoline price increased by 1 lira and 47 kuruş
  • June 14, Saturday: Diesel price increased by 1 lira and 47 kuruş
  • June 17, Tuesday: Diesel price increased by 1 lira and 70 kuruş

With these increases, both gasoline and diesel prices exceeded the 50 TL limit in many cities.

CHEAPEST IN ISTANBUL, MOST EXPENSIVE IN HAKKARI

According to a report in the Turkey newspaper, after the price increases, citizens began searching for the answer to the question, "Where is the cheapest fuel?" Based on the price distribution across the country:

  • The cheapest gasoline and diesel are sold in Istanbul.
  • The most expensive fuel is reflected at the pump in Hakkari.

It is noted that the biggest factors in the price difference are logistics costs and transportation fees.
