The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, criticized the rising prices during his party's group meeting, addressing the state of the economy. Reacting to the increases in gasoline and diesel prices with a canister and a liter bottle at the podium, Özel said, "Previously, if you paid 50 lira, you could buy a canister of diesel. Now you can't even buy 1 liter of diesel."
Speaking at his party's group meeting, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel criticized the government over the economy by coming to the podium with a canister full of diesel.
"HERE'S YOUR 50 LIRA DIESEL" In his statement regarding the issue, Özel said, "When they say the price of diesel has increased, what did he say? 'It doesn't concern me, I already buy it for fifty lira.' Here’s your fifty lira diesel. You can no longer buy a liter of diesel for fifty lira. You voted for Tayyip Bey in 2018, we said 'Don't do it.' We said, 'This one-man regime will not be good for Turkey. If Tayyip Bey comes, bread will shrink, prices will rise.' He said, 'Give me the authority, see the effect. Let's see how I will reduce inflation, make life cheaper, how I will lower interest rates, the dollar, the euro, diesel, and gasoline, you will see. I need the authority.' They gave him the authority, we saw the effect. When the one-man regime came, you could buy a canister of diesel for fifty lira, now you can't even buy a liter of diesel. From now on, those who are curious about the effects of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's one-man regime should see this. On one side, a canister of diesel, on the other side, not even a liter of diesel," he stated.
"THERE'S NO ACCEPTABLE SIDE TO THIS" Calling for an increase in the minimum wage and pensions, Özel stated, "Erdoğan won the election, last year he didn't even raise the minimum wage by 1 lira. The minimum wage of 22,100 lira has currently dropped to 19,000 lira in terms of purchasing power, even according to TÜİK. There is one more month left, it will drop to over 18,000 lira. They say you should survive with this salary for the next 6 months. The retirees are in the same situation. There is no acceptable side to this," he said.
