In Afyonkarahisar, a restaurant has been providing free iftar meals for 17 years with the support of philanthropists, serving 300 people daily. The iftar menu includes three types of dishes, and the restaurant also offers desserts and beverages to those in need.
One of the long-established businesses in Afyonkarahisar, the restaurant showcases one of the greatest examples of unity, sharing, and solidarity with the support of charitable citizens every Ramadan.
CONTINUING UNINTERRUPTED FOR 17 YEARS
The traditional practice has been ongoing at this restaurant for 17 years. As part of the initiative, an iftar menu is served to approximately 150 people at the restaurant. Additional tables and chairs are set up as physical conditions allow, in order to accommodate more people. The restaurant's free iftar menu consists of 3 types of dishes, dessert, appetizers, and beverages. With the support of philanthropists, more and more people are offered free iftar meals each year. Some of the meals prepared at the restaurant are also distributed as takeout.
WE PROVIDE IFTAR MEALS FOR 300 PEOPLE
The owner and operator, Mehmet Arpacıoğlu, stated that they have continued their free iftar meal offerings for 16 years and are doing so again this year.
Noting that the iftar meal they provide in Afyonkarahisar has become a tradition, Arpacıoğlu said, "Our charitable citizens also support us. That’s why we are increasing the number of meals we serve each year. Now we are serving 300 people. 150 people are seated, and 150 are given in takeout form. This number sometimes goes up to 800. We serve a different menu every day. Every 4-5 days, we also offer meat pide. Citizens are satisfied; we provide everything from appetizers to desserts, including dates, in a perfect restaurant environment. It wasn't like this at first, but now it has become a tradition. May God bless our charitable citizens. Hopefully, we will continue in the coming years," he said.
