Last month, during the 12-day war, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was injured in the leg by a missile attack carried out by Israel on a security meeting in Tehran. According to Iranian state media, the President was evacuated from the scene using an emergency evacuation route after the attack.

The Attack Targeted a Secret Meeting

The incident occurred on June 16, during a meeting of the Supreme National Security Council in Tehran, western Iran. High-ranking officials, including President Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Judiciary Chief Mohseni Ejei, were present at the meeting.

It was reported that six missiles belonging to Israel targeted the building's entry and exit points and disabled the ventilation system. As a result of the attack, the building lost power, and all escape routes were blocked. However, officials miraculously managed to survive.

Pezeshkian: "They Tried to Kill Me"

President Pezeshkian stated in an interview with renowned journalist Tucker Carlson that Israel directly targeted him. "Yes, they tried to kill me, but they failed," he said.

Israel denied this claim. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the purpose of the attack was not regime change.

Following the attack, Iran launched a major operation in the country. More than 700 people were arrested on charges of collaborating with Israel. Additionally, a new "emergency espionage law" containing harsher penalties was presented to the parliament. This law also includes the death penalty.
