Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz designated Iran's state bank Bank Melli as a 'terror organization' for allegedly providing funding to Iran-backed groups.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared the Iranian state bank Bank Melli a "terrorist organization" for allegedly providing funding to Iran-backed groups in the Middle East.

Israel made another move regarding Iran, which the U.S. has threatened with attack. The Iranian state bank has been added to the "terrorist organization" list.

IRANIAN STATE BANK ADDED TO ISRAEL'S TERROR LIST

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz signed an order defining the Iranian state bank Bank Melli as a "terrorist organization" for allegedly providing funding to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Quds Force, as well as Iran-backed groups in the Middle East. It was claimed that the bank helped finance attacks against Israel.

Katz stated, "The Iranian regime is the world's largest supporter of terrorism and uses its state banks as fully-fledged terrorist weapons. We will not allow Iran and its proxies to hide behind fake financial systems, and we will take action everywhere, using every means possible to dry up the financing of terrorism and prevent Iran's attempts to spread terror worldwide."

ALSO DESIGNATED AS A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION BY THE U.S.

Bank Melli was designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. in 2018. Israel had previously added the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), Bank Mellat, and Bank Shahr to its terrorist organization list.
