The DEM delegation has delivered the carpet that Öcalan sent as a gift to Bahçeli.

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated that he gifted a carpet sent by Abdullah Öcalan during the DEM Party delegation's visit to the Parliament in December. Bahçeli said, "I welcomed this and told the visiting delegation, 'In our culture, every carpet has a name, and I am naming this carpet the February 27, 2025 Peace and Democracy Carpet.'"

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made striking statements. Speaking about the process of a Turkey without terrorism, Bahçeli stated in an interview with Deniz Gürel and Başak Şengül from tv100 that the leader of the PKK terrorist organization, Abdullah Öcalan, sent him a carpet as a gift.

ÖCALAN SENT A CARPET TO BAHÇELİ

Bahçeli used the following expressions: "On December 12, 2025, when the DEM Party delegation visited us in the Parliament, they gifted us a carpet that was specially woven by the founding leader Abdullah Öcalan in Şanlıurfa. I thank him for his sincerity regarding the unity and brotherhood of Turks and Kurds."

Additionally, speaking about his handshake with the DEM Party members, Bahçeli said: "Many comments were made about my handshake with the DEM Party; that handshake was instantaneous. After our President's speech at the opening of the Parliament and his wishes and hopes regarding the Century of Turkey, I looked around the General Assembly hall. Our parliamentary friends and AK Party members were applauding, but the opposition was watching.

At that moment, I thought a step needed to be taken on behalf of Turkey, and I went and shook hands with the DEM Party members. There was also a deputy among them who had lost a relative, and I expressed my condolences to him. They were surprised.

You know, after the handshake, I said, "Öcalan should come and speak in the DEM Group" and transitioned from the term "terrorist leader" to the definition of "founding leadership." The shortest way to reach point A to point B is to draw a straight line. A crooked path extends your journey. If point A is the Republic of Turkey, then point B is founding leadership. This is the fastest way to eliminate terrorism. It is important for our country and our nation to be strong in peace, and for the resources allocated to terrorism to flow into prosperity and investment."
