Health officials from Al-Awda and Al-Aksa hospitals in Gaza reported that at least 15 Palestinians were killed by gunfire from Israeli soldiers as they approached a aid distribution point run by the Israel and U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Aid Foundation. The Gaza Ministry of Health stated that at least 274 people have lost their lives near the aid points, and more than 2,000 others have been injured.
Health workers from Al-Awda and Al-Aksa hospitals operating in Gaza announced that at least 15 Palestinians were killed by gunfire from Israeli soldiers while approaching the aid distribution point of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) near the Netzarim Corridor.
The Gaza Health Ministry, run by Hamas, stated in an official announcement that at least 274 people have lost their lives and more than 2,000 have been injured since the GHF began its operations.
The exact time of the shooting incident in the Netzarim Corridor is unknown. However, the Israeli army had announced earlier this month that the roads leading to the aid distribution points were a closed military zone between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM, and that people should not be present in these areas during those hours. In response, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation stated that aid distribution continued during these hours as well.
The United Nations and international aid organizations criticize the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation for not adequately meeting the humanitarian needs in the region and for the dangerous nature of its operations. Some experts argue that the safety of aid efforts cannot be ensured, putting volunteers at risk.
Israel, on the other hand, states that these regulations are necessary to prevent aid from falling into the hands of Hamas.
