A sad announcement was made by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) regarding candidates who will take the university entrance exam. YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar stated that the reduction in quotas applied in state universities in 2025 will continue in 2026 as well. Quotas were reduced by 45% in 2025. This situation will particularly affect candidates applying for law, psychology, pharmacy, dentistry, and architecture programs.

Speaking at the "Foundation Universities Meeting" held in Ankara, YÖK President Erol Özvar stated that a reduction similar to the quota decrease in state universities in 2025 will also be implemented in 2026, especially in law programs.
COMPETITION WILL INTENSIFY EVEN MORE
Every year, millions of candidates compete to be placed in universities through the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), which includes the TYT, AYT, and YDT sessions. While even a single question can create a significant difference in the score ranking, the limited quotas further increase the competition.
Özvar also expressed that programs such as psychology, pharmacy, dentistry, and architecture, especially law, will also be subject to varying degrees of quota reduction in foundation universities.
