The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated an ex officio investigation against journalist Alican Uludağ for the crimes of 'publicly insulting the President' and 'publicly disseminating misleading information.'
DETAINED
In a statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was also noted that journalist Alican Uludağ was detained in Ankara following the commencement of the investigation.
The statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said, "An ex officio investigation has been initiated by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding a series of posts made by the individual named Alican Uludağ on his social media account for the crimes of 'Publicly Insulting the President' and 'Publicly Disseminating Misleading Information,' and the suspect has been captured and detained in Ankara. An instruction has been given for the individual to be presented at our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on February 20. The investigation is being conducted meticulously."
