Kaya Çilingiroğlu was evicted from his rented apartment in Etiler by court order. Paying a monthly rent of 10,000 TL, which is well below market conditions, Çilingiroğlu continued to stay in the apartment despite the electricity being cut off. After the eviction, Çilingiroğlu filed a criminal complaint against the landlords, and it is expected that the tension between the parties will continue during the legal process.
Famous sports commentator Kaya Çilingiroğlu has come to the forefront due to the eviction process from the apartment he rented in Etiler. While all residents of the building, which was decided to be reinforced within the scope of urban transformation, left their homes, Çilingiroğlu's insistence on not moving out turned into a legal crisis.
According to allegations, during the disagreement with the landlord, Çilingiroğlu demanded 2 million TL in exchange for moving expenses. Following this claim, the landlord filed a lawsuit against his tenant who did not vacate the house at the Istanbul Civil Court. The court ruled for the disconnection of the electricity subscription in the apartment and the eviction of the house.
RESISTED IN AN APARTMENT WITHOUT ELECTRICITY
After the court's decision, the electricity of the apartment was cut off. Nevertheless, Kaya Çilingiroğlu continued to live in the house without electricity for about 1.5 months. The landlord's son, Gökhan Ceyhan, summarized the process with the following words: "He has been alone in a house where no subscription has been active for 1.5 months. We sent 6 notices. Each time he said, 'I don't care, I will not leave here.' He was only paying 10,000 TL in rent per month. This amount is well below the market rate in a neighborhood like Etiler. It was difficult, it took a long time, but he finally left. Now he is filing a criminal complaint against us."
TENSION BETWEEN LANDLORD AND TENANT
Çilingiroğlu's resistance to not leaving the apartment for such a low amount of 10,000 TL in a luxury neighborhood like Etiler drew attention. The landlords breathed a sigh of relief with the evacuation of the apartment. However, the tension between the parties is not over yet. It has been learned that Çilingiroğlu has filed various criminal complaints against the landlords due to the ongoing process. It is stated that the legal process may take on different dimensions in the upcoming period.
