The governors of Istanbul and the Turkish capital Ankara have changed with the new governors' decree announced early Tuesday, which also names new heads to security and state broadcaster TRT.
With the new amendments, Vasip Sahin, former Governor of Malatya, has replaced Huseyin Avni Mutlu as Governor of Istanbul, while Mehmet Kiliclar, former Security Director General, has been named Governor of Ankara. Kiliclar has been replaced by Celalettin Lekesiz, former Governor of Hatay.
Alaaddin Yuksel, former Governor of Ankara, has retired from office, and the former Istanbul Governor Mutlu has been appointed to the central governor's office in Ankara.
In addition, TRT Director General Ibrahim Sahin has been appointed as Governor of Samsun, vacating the post at the top of Turkey's state broadcaster. A replacement has yet to be named.
