At the Munich Security Conference, a lesson-like response came from Azerbaijan's First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva to opposition journalist Emin Huseynov, who asked about the state of democracy in Azerbaijan. Aliyeva reminded Huseynov that he had dressed in women's clothing to escape the country at the Swiss embassy. Huseynov, momentarily taken aback by this statement, denied Aliyeva's claim. Emin Huseyn had hidden at the Swiss Embassy in Baku for weeks until the Azerbaijani state allowed him to leave the country.
Last week, at the Munich Security Conference attended by country leaders and important political figures in Germany, many sessions took place on various topics. The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and his wife, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, also attended the conference, where bilateral meetings and discussions were closely followed.
While President Aliyev continued his official contacts, Aliyeva adhered to her own schedule.
As Aliyeva left the hotel with her bodyguards for a meeting, she encountered an unexpected figure.
"WHAT IS THE STATE OF DEMOCRACY IN AZERBAIJAN?"
Journalist Emin Huseynov, known for his opposition publications in Azerbaijan and who fled the country, blocked Aliyeva's path.
Huseynov asked Aliyeva about the state of democracy in Azerbaijan.
"WERE YOU THE ONE HIDING IN WOMEN'S CLOTHING?"
Initially ignoring the question but clearly irritated, Aliyeva turned back and responded to Huseynov.
Reminding Huseynov of what he did to escape the country, Aliyeva said, "Were you the one hiding in women's clothing at the embassy? I wish you healthy days."
In response to this outburst, Huseynov, momentarily taken aback, denied Aliyeva's claim.
HE HAD HID IN THE SWISS EMBASSY
Emin Huseyn had hidden in the Swiss Embassy in Baku for weeks until the Azerbaijani state allowed him to leave the country, and it had become a topic of discussion in the country.
