In his speech in Qatar, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated, "We expect the PKK to lay down its arms and cease to be an obstacle to the return to normalcy in our region. Just as ISIS has been removed from the system in Syria, the PKK will also be removed from the system. It will either leave willingly, in peace and tranquility, or it will be removed in another way."

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha, the capital of Qatar. After the meeting, Minister Fidan held a press conference with Sheikh Al Thani.
"THE FOUNDATION OF A FAIR AND LASTING SOLUTION IS A TWO-STATE SOLUTION"
Hakan Fidan stated, "The relationship between Turkey and Qatar is extremely important in terms of contributing to regional stability. Our bilateral trade volume is increasing day by day. We continue to be in close consultation on global and regional issues," and continued his remarks as follows:
"The first item on our agenda was again Gaza. Humanitarian aid has not been sent to Gaza for 2 months. The Palestinian side has indicated that it is ready for a comprehensive ceasefire, and at this stage, Israel must be pressured for peace. We will continue to provide our support. The foundation of a fair and lasting solution is a two-state solution. We will continue our efforts for the peoples of Palestine and Israel to live in peace."
"WE WILL CONTINUE CLOSE DIALOGUE WITH QATAR"
We also addressed the issue of Syria in our discussions. We have jointly made efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people, and we continue this cooperation in the reconstruction of Syria. Both Turkey and Qatar are working to lift the sanctions. We discussed the additional support we can provide to the Syrian administration. We reiterated our commitment to Syria's territorial integrity. As Turkey, we will continue to maintain close dialogue with Qatar. We will activate our vision for regional peace and development.
"WE DO NOT ACCEPT INITIATIVES TARGETING SYRIA'S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY"
Our approach regarding Syria is clear. Firstly, we do not accept any initiative targeting Syria's territorial integrity, nor do we accept any initiative that would undermine its sovereignty. We do not accept any initiative that would continue or sustain terrorist organizations in Syria. We always maintain the same stance. For us, what matters is that Syria takes its place as a respected, developed state in the region and the international community while preserving its sovereignty.
I want to emphasize that we are against all forms of ethnic and sectarian division. We want to see a ground where the Syrian Constitution provides equal conditions for all faith groups. Everything in Syria starts from zero, from a deficit. The new administration has inherited a deeply troubled legacy. We are addressing not only the fight against terrorism but all development issues by coming together with other countries in the region.
"PKK WILL LEAVE SYRIA EITHER VOLUNTARILY OR OTHERWISE"
We will continue to stand against certain groups that are taking advantage of the situation in Syria. We expect the agreement signed between the YPG and the administration in Syria in recent months to be implemented. At the same time, we expect the PKK to respond positively to the call made as an organization, to lay down its arms, and to cease being an obstacle to the return to normalcy in our region. Just as ISIS exited the system in Syria, the PKK will also exit the system. It will either leave voluntarily, in peace, and in tranquility, or it will leave in another way.
"IT IS IMPORTANT TO PRESSURE ISRAEL"
Turkey is trying to play a constructive role. We are continuing our efforts on what can be done to implement a ceasefire. In our discussions, we see that Hamas would accept any agreement on the table for a two-state solution more easily, and if the parties have goodwill, this crisis could be the last one we face. However, it could also be the precursor to future crises. Our goal is to turn this crisis into an opportunity and find a lasting solution. The efforts that the U.S. will put forth are important, and Trump's approach to the issue is significant. It is important to pressure Israel.
