The Minister of Justice, Yılmaz Tunç, stated, "In the investigations related to the forest fires, 17 people have been detained. The Bilecik Gölpazarı Open Prison was evacuated as a precaution due to the fire, and 1,081 detainees and convicts were safely transferred to open prisons in surrounding provinces."
In the last 2 days in Turkey, 150 fires have been intervened, and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that 17 people have been detained as part of the investigations initiated regarding the fires.
Minister Tunç stated that the Gölpazarı Open Penitentiary Institution in Bilecik was evacuated as a precaution due to the fires, saying, "1081 detainees and convicts have been safely transferred to open penitentiary institutions in surrounding provinces."
MINISTER TUNÇ'S STRIKING STATEMENT
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç used the following statements in a post on X: "We extend our best wishes to all citizens affected by the forest fires that occurred in various provinces between June 26-28, 2025."
17 SUSPECTS DETAINED
So far, 17 suspects have been detained as part of the comprehensive and meticulous judicial investigations conducted by the relevant Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices regarding the fires.

The Bilecik Gölpazarı Open Penitentiary Institution has been evacuated as a precaution due to the fire, and 1081 detainees and convicts have been safely transferred to open penitentiary institutions in surrounding provinces.
