A woman who gave birth in a private hospital noticed that only 4,500 TL of the 53,500 TL fee was covered by the Social Security Institution (SGK), so she applied to the Consumer Arbitration Committee. After her application, supported by documents, the difference was refunded.

A woman who gave birth in a private hospital detailed a process that could serve as an example for many through a post on social media. The woman, who gave birth to her daughter in March 2025, stated that they paid a fee of 53,500 TL for the delivery and that this amount was invoiced to them.

4,500 TL PAID TO THE HOSPITAL

A few weeks after the birth, the woman checked the "Treatment Information Inquiry" screen on E-Government and noticed that only 4,500 TL was paid to the hospital by SGK. She then took action.

3 DOCUMENTS, 1 APPLICATION

The woman first called the hospital and received the birth invoice and the epicrisis document via email. Then, she prepared a PDF of the treatment information screen from E-Government. After completing all the documents, she applied to the Consumer Arbitration Committee. In the application form, she wrote: "...I gave birth. They issued me an invoice of 53,500 TL. However, when I checked my treatment information on E-Government, I only see a transaction record of 4,500 TL. I request a refund for the difference."

"WE HAVE SUCH A RIGHT, AND WHY SHOULD WE NOT BENEFIT FROM IT"

Three weeks after the application, the woman stated that she was called by the hospital, and the officials initiated the refund process, with the difference being deposited into her bank account the next day. In her post, the woman called on citizens who experienced similar situations to act consciously, saying, "We have such a right, and why should we not benefit from it?" The post was viewed by thousands in a short time, and many people who were unaware of the process responded with messages of thanks.
