In his speech at the "10th Anatolian Media Awards" ceremony, President Erdoğan stated, "We live in a country where anyone who picks up a microphone sees themselves as a journalist. These individuals are practically terrorizing the streets under the guise of street interviews." Erdoğan also added, "Our stance against those who try to discipline the political institution and the nation with the media stick is very clear."

Here are the highlights from President Erdoğan's statements:
No one should forget that the Anatolian media, which is a source of pride for us, belongs to these lands. Your existence, as the capillary vessels of the media, is vital. You, who are uniting under this roof, are closer to the public and more engaged with citizens.
"TURKEY IS MORE FREE COMPARED TO 2002"
We have come this far by clashing with headlines. If you look at the headlines from 30 years ago, you will see how far Turkey has come. Those who have lost their former privileged statuses will object, but Turkey today is more free, richer, and undoubtedly has a much freer media ecosystem compared to before 2002. However, this environment of freedom often leads to irresponsibility. In matters of national security, the press in our country operates more freely compared to their counterparts in the West. We have experienced this many times, from the MIT trucks to the coup attempt.
"ANYONE WITH A MICROPHONE BECOMES A JOURNALIST"
Anyone who picks up a microphone and a camera thinks of themselves as a journalist. We have witnessed that these individuals are practically terrorizing the streets under the guise of street interviews. Those who grab the microphone find the audacity to insult the nation.
