"HE TOOK THE MONEY FROM MY POCKET" Kızılkaya shared the incident he experienced in 2011 in Hatay İskenderun on his social media account, saying, "The year was 2001, we were living in the Dumlupınar neighborhood of İskenderun. My mother, uncle, and some relatives were at home. My mother asked me to go to the grocery store. As I was going down the outside stairs of the house, I suddenly felt a knife on my neck in the dark stairwell. I was in shock. He asked me for my money. I couldn't make a sound. I said, 'I have little money in my pocket, I live alone upstairs, let me bring more.' He said, 'If you don't come, I'll cut you up.' He took the small amount of money I had in my pocket. When I went upstairs, I informed my uncle. I took a thick stick with me. When I went down, I started hitting him with the stick. My uncle intervened in the same way. Neighbors who heard the noise also came out. We managed to subdue the person with about 15 people. The incident ended there that day. Years later, learning that the same person had brutally murdered his two children and attacked the leader of the main opposition party today is a feeling that is hard to describe. I must have had a fate that was already written," he expressed.
"HE SAID I WILL CUT YOUR THROAT" Speaking to DHA, Kızılkaya said he experienced this incident when he was 14 years old, stating, "It was evening, and the weather was warm. My mother had asked me to buy something from the grocery store for the guests. As I went down, our stairs were an outside staircase of the building. There was a dark blind spot when I reached the outer door. At that moment, just as I was about to exit the outer door, I felt a knife being held to my neck. One person grabbed my arm. He had a very different way of speaking. It was as if he was using some substance and couldn't form complete sentences. He directly told me to 'take out the money.' I panicked and said, 'What money, what are you talking about?' Of course, he asked me for money. At that time, I had very little money, just enough to take to the grocery store. He asked, 'Isn't there more?' I told him it was upstairs and that I would go get it. He said, 'If you don't bring it, I will cut your throat here.' I went upstairs. With the fear I experienced, my uncle, who was a security officer at a state institution in İskenderun at the time, was visiting us. I explained the situation to my uncle. Of course, with the excitement of the incident, we went down. At that moment, since he was a professional security officer, we intervened by taking the knife from him. I condemn all forms of violence; however, when such an incident occurs under the conditions of that time, we had to defend ourselves. During this time, our neighbors and those who heard the incident came out, and this person was subdued during that process," he said.
"WHAT WOULD HE DO TO US IF HE COULD KILL HIS OWN CHILD?" Kızılkaya, after the attack on CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel, said that seeing the old photos of the suspect Selçuk Tengioğlu on screens and social media triggered his childhood trauma. Kızılkaya stated that he served in the 2nd Special Protection Battalion Command for his military service, was involved in protection duties, and also received health training, saying, "As far as I remember under the conditions of that time, I thought this person was a substance addict or had a mental illness. My biggest luck that day was having my uncle, who was a professional security personnel at a government office. I can say that I am alive today thanks to his intervention. Because a monster, I can't call him 'father,' who can kill his own child on Mother's Day, what wouldn't he do to us? We are a search and rescue team that has saved hundreds of lives for 6 years. We look at it first as human beings and human life and fight for it. I hope no political party member, no elected political figure in our country, in our Parliament, will be subjected to such violence and incidents," he said.
