The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, claimed during today's group meeting that the zoning regulation regarding fuel stations on the TEM highway was made specifically for one individual. In response, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change described Özel's allegations as "completely unfounded," stating that the regulation is not new and that it merely codifies the existing authority with the approval of the Parliament.

In today's group meeting, CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel stated that "there are 76 gas stations belonging to Aziz İhsan Aktaş on the Istanbul TEM highway, and Aktaş requested a zoning plan from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to build a shopping mall here, but this request was rejected." Accordingly, Özel claimed that "with a legal regulation made at midnight in the TBMM in December, it was ensured that 'the authority to prepare zoning plans for areas such as gas stations is granted to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change,' and that the regulation was made to facilitate Aktaş's zoning change for the gas station." MINISTRY DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS

In response, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change stated through its official social media account that "the allegations regarding gas stations raised by Özel in his group meeting are completely unfounded." The ministry's statement is as follows:

"The allegations regarding gas stations raised by CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel in his group meeting are completely unfounded. Our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change has had the authority to prepare gas station plans since 2011 by Presidential Decree. However, the Constitutional Court ruled that many authorities concerning our Ministry should be regulated by law instead of a decree, leading to the annulment of this authority. Therefore, the relevant authorities have also been approved by the TBMM and added to the Zoning Law.

In short; the situation is merely the approval of previously existing authorities by our Supreme Assembly and their enactment as law. There is no new regulation here. Therefore, there is not even a special application for individuals as claimed."
