The General Directorate of Security announced that the claims regarding the death of a Syrian youth in a police raid conducted at the wrong address in the Dörtyol district of Hatay do not reflect the truth. It was stated that the incident occurred during a Daesh operation and that the weapon was accidentally fired during the scuffle.

The General Directorate of Security made a written statement regarding the claims circulating on some social media accounts that "a Syrian youth was killed by the police during an operation conducted at the wrong address in the Dörtyol district of Hatay."

"THE CLAIMS TARGET THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM"

In the statement, it was noted that the claims contain disinformation, stating, "The claims shared on some social media accounts that 'a Syrian youth was killed during a raid conducted at the wrong address by the police in the Dörtyol district of Hatay' target the counter-terrorism operations and contain disinformation."

THE EVENTS WERE DETAILED ONE BY ONE

The statement also included details of the events that took place. The following expressions were used in the statement: "The incident in question occurred during a counter-terrorism operation carried out simultaneously on 15.11.2025 in Hatay, Mersin, Ankara, Elazığ, and Kırşehir against suspects of the ISIS terrorist organization involved in the attack on our Consulate General in Mosul in 2014.

During the intervention in the apartment where a foreign individual, who fled upon seeing the security forces, entered a house and did not open the door despite warnings to 'stop' and to open the door, was present, the door was forcibly opened. During the struggle that ensued while forcing the door open, a foreign individual named E.G.L. was accidentally shot in the chest. Although the individual was immediately taken to the hospital, he passed away.

"TWO INSPECTORS WERE ASSIGNED"

In relation to the matter, two Chief Inspectors of Police have been assigned by the General Directorate of Security. Judicial investigation regarding the matter is ongoing. The brother of the foreign individual named E.G.L., who was in the same house, stated in his testimony that his brother resisted opening the door and that a verbal argument occurred. It was determined in the Crime Scene Investigation Report and Forensic Examination Report that there was a single bullet entry and an empty cartridge found, and no evidence of being hit on the head with the butt of a gun, etc. was detected. All claims and statements shared in the opposite direction are contrary to the truth.

As a result of the operation carried out, 12 suspects were arrested, 1 suspect was released under judicial control, and a search record was issued for 6 suspects. It is strongly requested that the public does not give credence to manipulative shares targeting counter-terrorism operations."
