In a secret meeting held in the Israeli Parliament, lawmakers from Israel, the USA, Greece, and the Greek Cypriot Administration sent a message to strengthen cooperation against Turkey's increasing influence in the Eastern Mediterranean. Israeli, US, Greek, and Greek Cypriot (GC) lawmakers held a secret meeting in the Israeli Parliament on Wednesday evening to address Turkey's increasing influence in the Eastern Mediterranean.
"FOUR COUNTRIES UNITED AGAINST TURKEY"
According to a report by the Israeli press outlet Maariv titled "Four countries united against Turkey," it was stated that the strengthening of the Eastern Mediterranean Alliance among Israel, Greece, GC, and the US was discussed in response to Turkey's influence in the region. Members of the Israeli Parliament, representatives, and experts attended the meeting. The discussions focused on Turkey's rise as an effective power in the region and the security, economic, and political implications of cooperation among the countries.
"A RESPONSE TO CONTAIN TURKEY'S RISE"
According to information published in Milliyet, Israeli lawmaker Ohad Tal stated in his speech at the meeting, "Since October 7, we have witnessed the rise of the Muslim Axis in our region. This reality brings new challenges and poses a risk of undermining stability, security, energy, and trade in the region. Strengthening cooperation among Israel, Cyprus, Greece, and the US, including major infrastructure, natural resources, and security projects, is a strategic move and a response to contain Turkey's rise. This is the alliance we are discussing here today," he said.
"ANKARA SHOULD SEE THIS"
Greg Roman, CEO of the Middle East Forum, commented on the meeting, saying, "This meeting is extremely important; four parliaments are discussing and planning joint legal steps. The Middle East Forum has the right to initiate this lobbying activity and discussion. Ankara should see this," he said.
"TURKEY IS RISING AS THE SOLE POWER IN THE REGION"
Republican Congressman Randy Payne from the US argued that Turkey is increasingly becoming the sole power in the region, stating, "In recent years, whether it is related to Gaza, influence in Syria, or activities in other parts of the world, we have seen Turkey surpass accepted frameworks. Therefore, I oppose Turkey's purchase of F-35 aircraft, and there is no point in doing this through NATO," he said.
"IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE IF WE STAND TOGETHER"
Democratic Congressman Brad Schneider commented on Turkey and cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean, saying, "We need to be clear about who our partners are in the Middle East, who our enemies are, who is willing to cooperate, and who is creating difficulties and obstacles. We must take our steps together to unite against the threats in the region. It may be difficult to stop Ankara's power, but it's not impossible if we stand together," he said.
