POLICE HAVE LAUNCHED A WIDESPREAD SEARCH IN THE AREA
Leland Mayor John Lee stated that the attack did not occur on the Leland High School campus and that four of the injured were transported to the hospital by helicopter, saying, "This is an event we have been organizing for years, and we have never experienced such an incident until now. We are a city of about 3,700 people with a low crime rate. Everyone knows each other. This incident is a great tragedy for all of us." It was reported that the police have launched a widespread search in the area following the incident, and so far, there have been no arrests.
