ACQUITTAL REQUESTED
During the hearing held at the 23rd Criminal Court of First Instance in Istanbul, Durmaz's lawyer, who defended him, stated that they believe their client did not commit the alleged crime and requested the court to decide on Durmaz's acquittal.
1 YEAR 8 MONTHS PRISON SENTENCE
The court, which announced its decision, sentenced Kerimcan Durmaz to 1 year and 8 months in prison for the crime of 'encouraging individuals to place advertisements and in other ways to engage in fixed-odds or joint betting or gambling based on sports competitions' in a chain manner. The court also decided to continue the judicial control measure of 'prohibition of leaving the country' for Durmaz.
