Deputy Chairman of the New Welfare Party, Doğan Bekin, answered the questions of the presenter Melis Yaşar in the Haberler.com studio. Bekin evaluated how Turkey should proceed during the retaliation process carried out by Iran in response to Israel's attack named "Rising Lion" on Iran's nuclear facilities.
"WE EXPECT TURKEY TO TAKE ON A CONSTRUCTIVE ROLE"
Bekin stated that Turkey should pursue a constructive foreign policy that prioritizes peace and stability in the region, using the following expressions:
"We expect Turkey to take on a more constructive role. We believe that it should adopt the neutral and peaceful role it took during the Iran-Iraq War in this process as well. However, if it takes a stance alongside the USA due to being a NATO member, there is a possibility of facing a scenario similar to the Crimean War we experienced in history."
"TURKEY MAY BE ON THE TARGET BOARD IN THE FUTURE"
Stating that Turkey should act by considering regional balances, Bekin called for military security to be raised to the highest level against geopolitical risks:
"We expect Turkey to implement constructive and unifying policies. Because we want to express that Turkey will be on the target board in the future. Especially, Israel's ability to access and neutralize even simple calling devices in some operations in Southern Lebanon may bring similar methods against Turkey to the agenda. Therefore, Turkey must raise its military security measures to the highest level in advance."
"TURKEY IS A STRONG COUNTRY"
Bekin also emphasized Turkey's military and diplomatic strength, stating, "Turkey is a strong country as well. We express here that Israel does not have the power or capability to confront Turkey. Just like in Cyprus, we want to express that we can easily come together in difficulties and have the strength to overcome them. The same applies to Iran. If the war prolongs, we can easily emphasize that it will develop against Israel and America."
