In Antalya, the trial of Savaş Temirhanoğulları (48), who killed Fadim Temirhanoğulları (52) with 9 bullets during their divorce process, and his friend Fikret İnal, who is alleged to have assisted him, continued.
Before her death, the victim secretly recorded audio recordings, and the defendant's threatening conversations were played in court. In the recordings, Temirhanoğulları was heard saying to his wife, "In 3 months, a stone might trip you, they are thirsty for your death."
Savaş Temirhanoğulları, who had a restraining order against him for 3 months, returned home around 5:00 AM on September 12, 2024. He shot his wife with a gun and fled. At that moment, their daughter I.T. (16), who was sleeping in her room, woke up to the sound of gunfire, thought she was having a nightmare, and went back to sleep. The high school student I.T. woke up around 8:30 AM to a phone call from a school friend.
SHE SAW HER MOTHER IN A POOL OF BLOOD
When I.T. left her room and saw her mother in a pool of blood, she ran out of the house and knocked on the door of the neighbor. The neighbors who came to the house notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. The medical team dispatched to the address determined that Temirhanoğulları had lost her life. The police initiated a search to capture Savaş Temirhanoğulları, who was identified as working as a security guard at an entertainment center in Kemer district.
CAPTURED IN KORKUTELİ
Teams from the homicide bureau, examining security camera footage, determined that Savaş Temirhanoğulları had gone to Korkuteli district in his friend Fikret İnal's vehicle. The teams captured Temirhanoğulları and İnal at the location where they were hiding, along with the weapon used in the crime. Savaş Temirhanoğulları and Fikret İnal, who is alleged to have assisted him in fleeing, were arrested.
7TH HEARING HELD BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
The 7th hearing of the case, in which Savaş Temirhanoğulları is charged with "premeditated murder of a spouse" and İnal with "aiding and abetting the premeditated murder of a spouse," was held at the Antalya 1st High Criminal Court. The hearing was held behind closed doors for public safety reasons. Only the parties and their lawyers were allowed in the courtroom. During the hearing, the audio recordings that Fadim Temirhanoğulları had taken regarding the defendant's conversations at home before her murder were played.
DENIED THE AUDIO RECORDINGS
In the recordings examined by the expert, it was stated that after the victim's daughter I.T. left the house, Savaş Temirhanoğulları arrived, could not open the door, called a locksmith, and made phone calls inside the house. The phone conversations included marital problems between him and the victim, insults, and threats against her. It was heard that Savaş Temirhanoğulları said, "In 3 months, a stone might trip you, they are thirsty for your death." The recordings also documented that he insulted the victim.
The defendant claimed that the audio recordings did not belong to him. The court panel postponed the hearing for a decision.
"THEY TARGETED FADIM'S HONOR"
In a statement after the hearing, Attorney Müjde Tozbey, President of the Before Children Women’s Association, said, "The main point that stood out in the hearing was not the statements of the defendant, but those of the defendant's lawyers. The defendant's lawyers made grave statements that exceeded the limits of legal ethics and defense morality while defending against the indictment. They targeted Fadim's honor with baseless accusations that had no concrete defense and were contrary to the truth. Even when the defendant did not make such a claim, some lawyers declared Fadim to be dishonorable and even made slanderous statements about her family members and sisters," she said.
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST DEFENDANT'S LAWYERS
Tozbey also stated regarding the evidence reflected in the expert reports, "One of the defendant's lawyers, referring to the representation of women in television programs, claimed that women are 'liars, malicious, and constantly cheating individuals,' and thus characterized Fadim within this framework. Dozens of concrete evidence were presented showing that Fadim did not cheat on her husband. It was clearly revealed in the expert reports that Fadim did not cheat. Even if Fadim had cheated, no lawyer could make such gender-targeting, sexist, and degrading statements. Therefore, we will file a criminal complaint against the defendant's lawyers for making irrelevant, false statements regarding the murder, slandering Fadim and her family, and using statements that demean women in Turkey," she said.
SECRETLY RECORDED AUDIO BEFORE HER DEATH
Tozbey stated, "The audio recordings that Fadim secretly recorded due to the violence she experienced were played. In the recordings, the defendant's threats, 'I will kill this woman, I will also kill her daughter,' were clearly heard. Nevertheless, the defendant claimed that the voice in the recordings did not belong to him. However, it was clearly determined in the hearing that the voice belonged to the defendant. The defendant's lawyers argued that the recording should not be accepted as evidence because it was obtained secretly. Such recordings containing criminal acts can certainly be used as evidence. In the indictment, it was requested that the defendant and the person who assisted him be punished for the crime of premeditated murder of a woman under the scope of 'joint perpetration,'" she said.
