A heartbreaking detail has emerged regarding the incident in which Yusuf Ü. killed his estranged wife and mother-in-law in the Kilimli district of Zonguldak. Halil Alkaç stated that he installed security cameras in his home due to his son-in-law's constant threats, and the cameras recorded the moments when his wife and daughter were murdered. Alkaç wept at their graves, saying, "We are at the end of words. My home has been extinguished, my life has been extinguished."
In Şirinköy, a village in the Kilimli district of Zonguldak, last December, it was claimed that Tülay Ü. (45) and her mother Zaide Alkaç (64) went to visit relatives. On their way back, while the mother and daughter were walking on a bridge, Tülay Ü.'s husband, Yusuf Ü., who had been in the process of divorce for 2 years, approached them in his vehicle. Retired miner Yusuf Ü. took a shotgun from the car and fired 7-8 shots at his wife and mother-in-law, saying, "Now talk." The mother and daughter were killed while trying to escape upon seeing the gun on their way home. The suspect, who fled the scene, was captured and arrested by gendarmerie teams.
THE CAMERA HE INSTALLED IN HIS HOUSE RECORDED THE DOUBLE MURDERS Halil Alkaç, the grieving father who lost his wife and daughter in the armed attack by his son-in-law Yusuf Ü., tearfully recounted the story of the security camera that recorded the moment of the murder. Alkaç stated that he had installed a camera system in every corner of his house due to his son-in-law's constant threats, but those cameras recorded the last moments of his wife and daughter.
"MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING VIOLENCE FOR 31 YEARS" Halil Alkaç, who prayed at the graves of his wife and daughter and struggled to stand, stated that his son-in-law Yusuf Ü. had been abusing his daughter Tülay for years. Alkaç recounted how his daughter sought refuge with him, saying:
"I am Zahide Alkaç's husband. I am also Tülay Alkaç's father. They have been married for 31 years. My daughter constantly faces threats; she has been subjected to violence for 31 years. She came to me and said, 'I can't take it anymore, father.' I told her, 'If you are determined, I will take care of you. But if you are not determined, she has three children. The decision is yours.' She replied, 'No, father, I will die, I won't go.' Her husband came and threatened us. He constantly threatened us."
Killed Zaide Alkaç "I WANT HIM TO BE PUNISHED IN THE HARSHEST WAY" The grieving father emphasized that they were following the legal process, but the threats never ceased, saying, "We started going to the police station. I went to the police station many times. The court process was already ongoing in Çaycuma. There was no response from there either. He had a restraining order. It expired in the 6th month. After that, when we requested it again, they rejected it."
Halil Alkaç continued, explaining that his son-in-law Yusuf Ü. had also harmed his own relatives:
"He shot at his uncle's house, burned his father's house. He stoned his aunt's house, and stabbed his sister. Did my life have to be in danger? I told the authorities that on the day of the incident. 'I mean, did my life have to be in danger?' Two of my lives were lost. My home was extinguished, my life was extinguished. From now on, I don't know how much longer I can endure this. Two of my lives are lying there. I have been married to one for 49 years, and my daughter is 45 years old. There is so much to say. But we are at the end of words. I want him to be punished in the harshest way."
Killed Tülay Ü. "MY DAUGHTER ATTEMPTED SUICIDE OUT OF FEAR" Halil Alkaç recounted a previous incident, stating that his son-in-law had frightened his daughter and grandchildren:
"My daughter attempted suicide. She stayed in intensive care in Bolu for 4 days. She also received psychiatric treatment in Zonguldak for 35 days at the university. All the documents are available. I went to the police station with 60 pages of threat messages the last time I went. The night of my daughter's suicide attempt, Yusuf Ü. came. We woke up from sleep, and he said, 'Tülay attempted suicide.' When we asked, 'How do you know Tülay attempted suicide?' it turned out he had cornered my daughter. He had forced her, saying, 'I will come and shoot your father, I will shoot your mother.' The child attempted suicide out of fear. There are claims that my granddaughter provoked my daughter to threaten Yusuf Ü. There is no such incident. He kicked his son out of the house. He didn't even give him his shoes. I send my 15-year-old son to school by my own means. He has three sons. You can ask each of them separately. I raised all of them. In 31 years of marriage, he never acted as a father to the children. They should ask this villager, they should ask this nation. I mean, for God's sake, let everyone speak."
Halil Alkaç "I INSTALLED CAMERAS ALL AROUND MY HOUSE DUE TO HIS THREATS" Halil Alkaç, who tearfully recounted the events of the day, said that the cameras he installed in every corner of his house due to threats recorded the last moments of his wife and daughter. Alkaç stated, "I prepared breakfast for them, we had breakfast. My uncle's house is a little further away. They said, 'My uncle is sick. We will go and come back to my uncle.' I said I would go as far as Kilimli. The car had some maintenance work. I arrived in Kilimli. I hadn't even shown the car yet. I got a call behind me. They said, 'Yusuf shot Zahide and Tülay.' I rushed over. When I got here, they had thrown them there like dead dogs, not like humans. One is lying on one side, the other on the other. People are just watching as if they are watching a show. We went to court for two divorce cases. Always threats, always threats. I will kill you, I will do this. As he kept threatening, we reported it. But unfortunately, two lives were lost, two of our lives were lost. My cameras show it from there. The house camera shows it. I have both a house camera and a village camera. The one that shows it clearly is my house camera. I installed cameras all around my house due to his threats," he said.
Ayşe Demir "HOW MANY MORE WOMEN WILL DIE!" Ayşe Demir (38), who lost her mother and sister, reacted to the events.
Demir said, "One is my mother, the other is my sister. No woman should end up like this. No woman should die this way. She has a petition stating her fear in the sixth month. She submitted this petition, but it was rejected because it didn't harm you. They are all messages, threatening messages. We absolutely couldn't make our voices heard. I was left orphaned, my nieces and nephews were left orphaned, my father was left alone. No woman should end up like this. Someone should hear our voices now. How many more women will die?"
EYEWITNESS DESCRIBED THE MOMENTS OF HORROR Melahat Ündeş, who witnessed the moments of horror, said, "I was cleaning on the balcony. He got out of the car and said, 'Now speak.' He fired at them. I ran inside. He would have shot me too. After that, he came at them again and fired. There is no security in the village, no owner at all. What is this, shooting at each other? He was going to kill his uncle too. He would have shot him if he could catch him. If he comes, he will kill us; our lives are over if he comes. Our lives are in danger. He made us witnesses, he will kill us too."
