Apart from the February 27 İmralı statement, no other words have any validity according to us," he said.
DEM PARTY LISTED ITS 10 DEMANDS ONE BY ONE
Responding to the words of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli at his party's group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan said, "The DEM Party is working to build the cornerstones of justice, freedom, and equality for every citizen living in this country," and listed the party's 10 demands.
Bakırhan stated, "The concrete demands of the DEM Party are as follows:
1- We want a constitutional citizenship that looks at everyone equally and encompasses everyone.
2- We demand the rule of law, not a regime of arbitrariness.
3- We want the will to be prioritized, not trustees.
4- We want a public space where speech, press, and organization can breathe freely.
5- We want the right to education in one's mother tongue.
6- We want a democracy where local voices are heard and decisions sprout from the local level.
7- We want urgent regulations in fundamental laws, especially the Anti-Terror Law, the Turkish Penal Code, and the execution law.
8- We want to embark on a path with a transitional law centered on truth, justice, and reparations.
9- We want the release of sick and political prisoners and the alleviation of prison conditions.
10- We want our comrades who are in exile for political reasons to return to their homeland as soon as possible.
"WHICH OF OUR DEMANDS IS EXAGGERATED?"
Now I ask you, which of the demands we have listed so far is exaggerated? Which one is unrealistic? Which one is maximalist? Rest assured, none of them are. Because all the demands I just listed are actually not matters that would be considered excessive in countries where there is at least minimal democracy," he said.
