A suspect, who was released on leave from prison in Bursa and has a 17-year prison sentence, resisted the police and gendarmerie teams' attempt to detain him, turning the area into a battlefield. The Kyrgyz national first held a knife to his 3-year-old niece's throat and injured his sister. While the suspect locked himself on the balcony, he put security forces in a difficult situation, while the neighborhood residents watched the moments like a movie.

A Kyrgyz national, who was wanted with a 17-year prison sentence and went out on leave from prison, caused terror after he threatened his 3-year-old niece with a knife and then locked himself in the house, making the security forces sweat with anxiety.

NEW YEAR'S MORNING TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE

The incident occurred in the Akçağlayan neighborhood of the Yıldırım district in Bursa. 26-year-old Mehrali Paşa, who was released on leave from Bursa H Type Closed Prison, went to his sister Nazlı Paşa's house on New Year's morning. The suspect, who was allegedly under the influence of drugs, suddenly became aggressive when he was asked to leave the house. He pressed a knife he took from the kitchen to the throat of his 3-year-old niece B.G., injuring his sister who tried to intervene and then disappeared.

RETURNED A WEEK LATER: TURNED THE HOUSE INTO A BATTLEFIELD

After a week had passed since the incident, the fugitive suspect returned to his sister's house. When he found no one at home, he took out his anger on the belongings. Upon the neighbors' notification, police and gendarmerie teams arrived at the scene shortly and launched an operation to capture the individual, who had a record of 15 separate crimes and a confirmed 17-year prison sentence.

NEGOTIATION TEAMS INTERVENED

Refusing to surrender to the police, Mehrali Paşa went out onto the balcony with a knife and locked himself in. While Special Operations and negotiation police were dispatched to the scene, fire crews set up an inflatable tarp under the balcony in case the individual attempted to jump. Extensive security measures were taken in the neighborhood during the prolonged persuasion efforts.

17-YEAR CONFIRMED PRISON SENTENCE FOR 15 SEPARATE CRIMES

After the persuasion efforts, Mehrali Paşa was neutralized and taken into custody by the special operations teams. It was learned that the individual had a record of 15 separate crimes and a confirmed 17-year prison sentence.
