63 TAXI PLATES SOLD AT RECORD PRICES
At the Dr. Mimar Kadir Topbaş Show and Art Center in Yenikapı, 65 bidders submitted sealed bids for the auction of "250 taxi plates to be granted a license for 29 years based on application." In the auction, 63 plates were sold at prices ranging from 4 million 700 thousand to 4 million 716 thousand lira.
WILL PROVIDE SERVICE WITH SPECIAL DESIGNS
The new taxis, whose plate usage rights are limited to 29 years, will pick up passengers not from the street but through applications. The new taxis will provide service with special designs to distinguish them from other taxis. IMM Secretary General Volkan Demir stated that they are conducting the third application-based taxi auction in Istanbul and that the taxis from the first two auctions are currently in traffic.
Demir expressed that the taxis auctioned can currently be monitored through 6 applications and that they are safe for both drivers and Istanbul residents.
AUCTIONS
On June 12, IMM sold 9 of the 150 plates it put up for auction in the first phase of the 2,500 new taxis to be operated under "Application-Based Taxi Transportation," and the sale of 4 of these was canceled due to non-compliance with the contract terms. In the auction on September 2, 24 plates were sold. With the sale of 63 plates in today's third auction, a total of 92 out of 2,500 new taxi plates have been sold.
