In the 14th week of the EuroLeague, the match between Olympiakos and Fenerbahçe Beko, which was scheduled to be played this evening, has been postponed due to leaks in the arena's roof following heavy rainfall in Athens. The leak on the roof of the Peace and Friendship Sports Hall posed a significant safety risk on the court, leading to the announcement that the match could not be played.
Heavy rain halted basketball in Athens. The highly anticipated match between Olympiakos and Fenerbahçe Beko in the 14th week of the EuroLeague was canceled at the last minute due to a leak in the roof of the Peace and Friendship Sports Hall. As the safety of the court could not be ensured, the match was postponed to a later date by official decision.
Despite hours of work by the hall staff, the water accumulation on the floor could not be cleared, leading to the decision by Greek Deputy Minister of Sports Ioannis Vroutsis to postpone the match to a later date.
HOME TEAM ANNOUNCED
The Olympiakos club stated in a press release, "In accordance with the relevant decision of Deputy Minister of Sports Ioannis Vroutsis, the EuroLeague 14th week match against Fenerbahçe scheduled for today (04/12, 22:15) has been postponed."
When the match will be played is still unclear. The EuroLeague management is expected to announce the new schedule shortly.
