THE "TERROR-FREE TURKEY" SUMMIT HAS STARTED AT BEŞTEPE
On July 11, the terrorist organization PKK, which laid down its arms in Northern Iraq, announced last Sunday that it had completely withdrawn from Turkey. While the repercussions of the PKK's decision continue, Ankara is hosting a critical meeting today. The meeting between President Erdoğan and the DEM Party delegation from İmralı has begun at the Presidential Complex.
Also present at the meeting are AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala and MIT President İbrahim Kalın. From the DEM Party, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar are attending.
BULDAN: THIS MEETING IS VERY MEANINGFUL
Before the meeting, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar from the İmralı delegation made a statement. Buldan said: "We will hold the third meeting with the President. We are aware that we are going through a historic period. In this regard, this meeting is very meaningful. We will come together with the President to discuss the stages the process has reached, the difficulties experienced in the process, and the steps that need to be taken. We expect the meeting to last about an hour. We will then make a written statement."
Mithat Sancar stated: "Today's meeting is really important. Our main agenda is the course of the process so far, the stage it has reached, and what needs to be done next. We will present our ideas, suggestions, and evaluations to the President. Of course, we will also listen to his evaluations on this matter. We believe it will be a good meeting that will yield positive results."
THEY HAVE MET TWICE BEFORE
The DEM Party delegation had previously met with President Erdoğan twice. In a written statement from the DEM Party, it was announced that İmralı delegation members Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar would meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex on Thursday, October 30.
