The statement of journalist Levent Gültekin, who was detained on the charge of "publicly disseminating misleading information" due to his remarks in a program on his YouTube channel, has emerged. It has been reported that Gültekin stated, "There is no concrete determination regarding which misleading information I have disseminated. The video is entirely political commentary, an interpretation of current events. There is not even a single sentence in which I insult anyone by name."
Journalist Levent Gültekin was detained this evening while sitting in a café in Istanbul. His lawyer, Çağrı Çetin, stated, "My client Levent Gültekin was detained at 01:20 from a café in Bebek. He was taken to the Istanbul Provincial Police Department on Vatan Avenue by the security branch."
"THERE IS NOT A SINGLE SENTENCE IN WHICH I INSULTED ANYONE"
It has been learned that Gültekin, who was detained on the charge of "publicly disseminating misleading information" due to some expressions he used in his broadcast on his YouTube channel, said the following in his statement:
"I filmed the video at my residence on December 17, 2025, in the evening. I remember the entire content of the video, but I did not see any elements of a crime in the analysis text in the file. There is no concrete determination of which misleading information I disseminated. The video is entirely political commentary, an interpretation of current events. There is not even a single sentence in which I insulted anyone by name. Therefore, I am not in a position to make any defense. Since the parts considered as elements of a crime have not been identified, I am not in a position to defend myself."
WILL BE REFERRED TO THE COURT
After his procedures at the police station, Gültekin will be referred to the court.
