According to the ASAL Research survey conducted in January 2026, 54.4% of participants answered "yes" to the question "Should early general elections be held?", while 38% answered "no"; 7.6% stated that they had no opinion.
After MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli firmly closed the door on early election discussions, the topic this time reflected in public opinion polls.
54% SAID "LET IT HAPPEN"
In a survey conducted by ASAL Research in January 2026 with 2,000 participants across 26 provinces, respondents were asked, "Do you think early general elections should be held?" According to the survey results, 54.4% of participants stated that early elections should be held, while 38% opposed early elections. 7.6% of the respondents did not express an opinion.
The emerging picture shows that the discussions about early elections have significant public resonance in the political agenda, revealing that despite Bahçeli's statements that "early elections will never be on the agenda," more than half of the voters have called for early elections.
WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?
Bahçeli, who stated, "The CHP Chairman's fixation on early elections and making futile calls to me is pure political foolishness," expressed the following: "It is clear when the election will be held; early elections will never be on the agenda. Even if the CHP Chairman tries to open the door to elections, we, as the People's Alliance, know that the door we will seek is the main door of Turkey and the Turkish Century."
