The shop owner, who wants to reclaim the business he rented out in Mersin 10 years ago, claimed that his tenant demanded 12 million TL from him to hand over the keys. While the property owner filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office, the tenant stated, "The landlord cannot evict me arbitrarily; I will also file a complaint against him, and I did not ask for 12 million TL."

There is tension between the tenant and the landlord for a business in Mersin due to a 12 million TL turnkey handover. The landlord filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office, claiming that the tenant demanded a large sum of money from him. The tenant, on the other hand, denied these allegations and stated that he would seek his legal rights.
The incident occurred for a business located on Kuvayi Milliye Street in the central Mediterranean district. According to the claim, the business, which was rented to N.E. 10 years ago, was wanted to be reclaimed by the landlord Fahrettin Karakuş. The landlord first sent a 'eviction commitment letter' to his tenant. N.E., who did not vacate within the 6-month period, requested an additional 2 months. After that period passed, Karakuş could not reach an agreement with his tenant, who moved next door but did not return the keys. Karakuş stated that he filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office after failing to find a solution, claiming that his tenant demanded 12 million TL or a promissory note from him.
"WE WILL TAKE THE KEYS BUT HE DOES NOT WANT TO GIVE THEM"
Expressing that he is the victim, Fahrettin Karakuş said, "We sent a signed eviction commitment letter 6 months ago, and he asked us to wait for another 2 months. We granted him an additional 2 months, and he still hasn't vacated. We will go and take the keys, but he does not want to give them. He says, 'You will either give me 12 million TL or write a promissory note for 12 million. If you do not accept that, I will rent it out, and I will take the air money.' He does not want to give us the keys, meaning he has seized the shop and threatened us to leave. He said, 'Go wherever you want, if you accept my conditions, it will be like this; if you do not accept, you cannot take the keys.'" he recounted his experiences.
"WE ARE VICTIMS, UNFORTUNATELY WE COULD NOT GET THE KEYS"
Stating that they have initiated the legal process to reclaim his shop, Karakuş said, "We are victims; unfortunately, we could not get the keys. We also filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office, but so far we have not received any results; we are waiting," he said.
"I DID NOT ASK FOR 12 MILLION TL, IT DOES NOT EVEN WORTH THAT MUCH"
The tenant N.E., who did not want to speak to the cameras but provided information over the phone, said, "The landlord cannot just evict me on a whim. I have been operating there for 10 years. He suddenly decided to evict me. I will also file a complaint against him. I did not ask for 12 million TL; the shop is not worth that much anyway," he stated.
