U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that 83% of the programs under USAID, the U.S. international aid agency, have been canceled following a six-week review.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a statement regarding the 90-day review initiated for the foreign aid that the Trump administration halted for the assessment of alignment with U.S. foreign policy.
83% OF USAID PROGRAMS CANCELLED Rubio announced that 83% of the programs under the U.S. international aid agency, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), were canceled following a six-week review.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio "BILLIONS OF DOLLARS SPENT IN WAYS THAT DO NOT SERVE BASIC NATIONAL INTERESTS" Rubio stated, "The 5,200 programs that were canceled spent billions of dollars in ways that do not serve the basic national interests of the U.S. (and in some cases, even harmed them)," adding that the remaining approximately 1,000 programs would now be managed "more effectively" by the State Department in consultation with Congress.
