After Ayşe Tokyaz was killed by her ex-boyfriend in Istanbul and her body was found in a suitcase, her twin sister Esra Tokyaz's account during the farewell ceremony was heartbreaking. Stating that her sister was deceived with a promise of marriage, Tokyaz noted that her sister's lifeless body was dismembered and unrecognizable, saying, "I didn't show my sister to anyone; she was in a state that couldn't be seen."
The funeral of 22-year-old university student Ayşe Tokyaz, whose lifeless body was found in a suitcase in Istanbul, was held in her hometown of Hatay. Tokyaz's twin sister, Esra Tokyaz, stated that her sister was deceived with a promise of marriage and that her lifeless body was dismembered and unrecognizable.
AYŞE TOKYAZ'S BODY FOUND IN A SUITCASE Esra Tokyaz, the twin sister of 22-year-old Ayşe Tokyaz, who was a nursing student in Istanbul, filed a missing person report after not hearing from her sister. After a persistent search and suspecting her sister's boyfriend Cemil Koç, Tokyaz's lifeless body was found dismembered in a suitcase. Tokyaz's body was brought back to her hometown of Reyhanlı, where she was laid to rest by her family. Meanwhile, it was reported that seven people, including former police officer Cemil Koç, have been detained in connection with the young woman's death.
"MY SISTER WAS DECEIVED WITH A PROMISE OF MARRIAGE" Esra Tokyaz, the twin sister, stated that she met the suspect five months ago with a promise of marriage, saying, "Ayşe Tokyaz was my identical twin. We went from Hatay to Istanbul to study at university. We are final year nursing students. My sister met Cemil Koç five months ago with a promise of marriage. Cemil Koç kidnapped my sister, and I realized this. When I saw the bruises on my sister, I went that same day and called the police. Then Cemil Koç video-called me. I was telling him to tell me where my sister was, but he wouldn't. I told him to let my sister go and then do whatever he wanted. He said he left my sister somewhere and also left her body somewhere. I went to the Forensic Medicine Institution, and I was hitting my head against the walls out of grief. Then, after a long time, I received my sister's funeral and brought her to Hatay," she said.
Esra Tokyaz expressed that her twin sister was unrecognizable and that she did not show her lifeless body to anyone, saying: "I last saw my sister on Wednesday in Mecidiyeköy. I didn't see her after that, but I heard her voice. The day I heard her voice, I went to her. When I went to her, she had her belongings. She told me to bring them, and I took her things. Cemil Koç opened the door and said, 'Your sister is not here.' But my sister's shoes were in front of the door.
"MY SISTER WAS IN A STATE OF UNRECOGNITION" Ayşe wanted to be happy. Cemil Koç made her feel that he loved and valued her very much. My sister told me that Cemil Koç sent her photos of wedding dresses and rings, and they talked about what name they would give their child if they had one. My sister was deceived by him with a promise of marriage and started talking to him. My sister was captivated by his sweet words. Today, the burial process was carried out. I brought my sister to Hatay today. I did not show her to anyone; she was in an unrecognizable state. I was the only one who saw her in that condition. I did not want anyone to approach. I didn't even let my mother get close, and I just stood in front of them. I have to be strong right now; there is no one else but me. I realized that I couldn't handle things alone when I was at the forensic medicine, so I informed my family. They came to me. We brought my sister together and did what was necessary. Now we do not feel the pain of my sister. We are looking for justice first. After that, we will grieve, and I want justice."
