According to a statement from FIFA, the long-established Süper Lig team Konyaspor has received a transfer ban for 3 periods. The green-white club, which is in a legal dispute with Alexandru Cicaldau, who played on loan last year, has had its transfer window closed for 3 periods.

According to information on FIFA's website, Konyaspor received a transfer ban starting from April 10, 2025.

It has been learned that Konyaspor received the transfer ban imposed by FIFA due to the application of Romanian footballer Alexandru Cicaldau, who played on loan from Galatasaray last season.

THE REASON FOR THE PENALTY IS CICALDAU

According to journalist Halil Yılmazer, Alexandru Cicaldau earned a total of 805 thousand euros in annual income at Konyaspor. Cicaldau stated that Konyaspor should pay the tax amounting to 956 thousand TL on this income and took the matter to FIFA. FIFA found Cicaldau justified and sent a letter to Konyaspor for the payment of the amount. Konyaspor's transfer window was closed because it did not pay this amount.

Additionally, Cicaldau separately filed a lawsuit with FIFA for the unpaid amount of 210 thousand euros remaining from his salary. FIFA found Konyaspor at fault for not fulfilling the contract obligations.

If Konyaspor pays the required amounts of 956 thousand TL and 210 thousand euros from a total of two cases, the transfer window will be opened. With this penalty, the green-whites will not be able to register new players in their squad for the next 3 transfer seasons.
