Combined sales of automobile and light commercial vehicles in Turkey has risen by over 50 percent in February, a leading Turkish automobile vendors' association said Wednesday.
Turkish automobile market expanded 57.9 percent in February 2015, year-on-year, as combined sales, which was 35,021 a year earlier, hit the 55,331 mark, the Automotive Distributers' Association said in its latest report.
Automobile sales in February reached 40,817 with a 50.2 percent increase, year-on-year, while lightweight commercial vehicle sales rocketed to 14,514 with a booming 84.8 percent growth.
Combined sales rose by six percent, year-on-year, last month.
The Turkish automobile market contracted 10 percent annually last year after a sharp interest rate hike introduced by the central bank and a slipping Turkish lira.
The booming growth in February was largely attributed to the unsatisfied demand in January as stronger than expected demand in December exceeded stocks.
