UEFA has rejected Trabzonspor's request to move the UEFA Youth League final, which will be played on April 28, Monday, at the Colovray Sports Center in Nyon, Switzerland, between Trabzonspor U19 and Barcelona U19, to a larger capacity stadium. The reason given was that the request was not feasible in terms of security, logistics, urban transportation, and operational preparations.
Trabzonspor, by reaching the final of the UEFA Youth League, has made a first in Turkish football. The U19 team applied to UEFA for the final match against Barcelona U19 to be played in a stadium with a larger capacity. A response has been received regarding this request from the Bordo-Mavililer.
UEFA'S NEGATIVE RESPONSE: NOT POSSIBLE
Trabzonspor announced that their request to move the UEFA Youth League final, which will be played on Monday, April 28, at the Colovray Sports Center in Nyon, Switzerland, to a stadium with a larger capacity has been rejected by UEFA.
In a statement made on the club's official website, it was stated, "UEFA has deemed our request to move the UEFA Youth League final match of our U19 team against Barcelona to a stadium with a larger capacity as not feasible due to security, logistics, urban transportation, and operational preparations."
WARNING TO FANS ATTENDING THE MATCH
The statement emphasized that fans who will follow the final match from the stadium need to pay attention to some important issues, stating:
"Due to the limited capacity of the Colovray Stadium in Nyon, Switzerland, where the match will be played, 800 tickets have been allocated for our fans for the final match. These tickets will be put on sale during the day. It has been specifically emphasized by UEFA that only ticket-holding fans should come to the stadium.
It has been clearly stated in UEFA's official letter that fans without tickets will be removed from the area for security reasons. Reminding that the field violations committed by our fans in the recently played Salzburg match put our club in a difficult situation, we expect all our fans to show the necessary sensitivity on this issue and to support our team in a sportsmanlike manner throughout the match."
THEY HAD REJECTED BEFORE AS WELL
Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan stated that UEFA had previously rejected these requests after the match in which they reached the final. Doğan responded to the question, "Did you see the interest in the match? Is there a chance to make an effort to move it to a stadium with a larger capacity for the final?" by saying, "We wrote this letter before we came here. We indicated that this place would not accommodate our audience, but there was no positive feedback from UEFA. We are preparing a new letter after this match. We will request to move it to a stadium with a capacity of at least 25-30 thousand. I believe that Trabzonspor fans living in Europe and Turks will come to support these valuable young players. Perhaps it will also be a first for UEFA. I think they will evaluate it positively."
