Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump have reached an agreement regarding precious metals. Zelensky is expected to visit the White House on Friday to sign the agreement. Under the terms of the deal, the U.S., which does not provide security guarantees to Kyiv, will hold a 50% stake in the minerals, gas, and oil to be extracted from Ukraine in the future.

The U.S. President Donald Trump, who has taken on the role of mediator in the Ukraine-Russia war, has set his sights on Ukraine's valuable minerals. It has been reported that Trump offered to transfer half of Ukraine's rare earth elements to U.S. companies in exchange for military support to Zelensky.

ZELENSKY AGREED WITH TRUMP

Initially rejecting the offer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took a step back. Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump reached an agreement regarding valuable minerals. Zelensky is expected to sign the agreement at the White House on Friday.

According to reports, the U.S. has lifted the $500 billion condition, and Ukraine has also shown willingness to sign. Additionally, it was stated that the agreement would not cover projects that Ukraine is currently profiting from. The future extraction of minerals, gas, and oil will account for 50% under the agreement. The U.S. is not providing security guarantees to Ukraine within the framework of the agreement.

"THE AGREEMENT WILL BENEFIT BOTH THE U.S. AND UKRAINE"

On the other hand, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt made an assessment regarding the expected precious minerals agreement to be signed between the U.S. and Ukraine during a press briefing. The spokesperson explained that the current U.S. administration places great importance on this agreement and that Trump’s Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, postponed his Middle East trip to focus on this matter, stating that the agreement would benefit both the U.S. and Ukraine.

"IT WILL COMPENSATE FOR AMERICAN TAXES"

Leavitt stated, "The signing of this agreement is critically important. President Trump expects Zelensky to sign this agreement. This agreement will compensate for the American taxes that finance Ukraine's defense and will also create a lasting economic partnership with Ukraine, which is experiencing hell due to the war."

Leavitt expressed that Trump is determined to see an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, stating, "He wants to see the bloodshed and deaths stop. The President inherited this chaos due to the incompetence of the previous administration and is determined to fix it. He is very committed to making a peace agreement in Russia and Ukraine, as well as in the Middle East."

ZELENSKY WILL SIGN THE AGREEMENT AT THE WHITE HOUSE

U.S. President Donald Trump stated earlier this month that Ukraine owes hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.S. due to the aid provided so far and announced that he wanted to make an agreement demanding $500 billion worth of rare earth elements with Kiev. Trump mentioned that negotiations are ongoing with both Russia and Ukraine to end the Russia-Ukraine War, and that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would come to the White House this week or next week to sign the precious minerals agreement.

Ukraine has a wide variety of critical and major element and mineral fields, including lithium, titanium, uranium, and manganese.
