Ukraine, Lithuania Agree To Enhance Military Cooperation

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met with his Lithuanian counterpart, Dalia Grybauskaite, here on Monday, with both sides pledging to expand their cooperation in the military sector. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met with his Lithuanian counterpart, Dalia Grybauskaite, here on Monday, with both sides pledging to expand their cooperation in the military sector.
"We have agreed on cooperation in the military-technical sphere, including shipments of specific elements of armament for the Ukrainian armed forces," Poroshenko said during a joint press conference with Grybauskaite after their talks.
He gave no details about the structure of military shipments or timeframe of their delivery.
For her part, Grybauskaite confirmed that her country was ready to enhance military cooperation with Ukraine.
"Lithuania is ready to share its experience with Ukraine in all spheres, including the military one. We will support you and provide training for the troops," she said.
Earlier in the day, the Ukrainian presidential press service said that during the talks, the two leaders also discussed their countries' cooperation in defense, and cyber and information security, as well as coordination within the framework of international organizations.
Poroshenko and Grybauskaite, who arrived in Kiev for a one-day working visit, also signed a roadmap for the development of a strategic partnership between their countries for the next two years. (Cihan/Xinhua)
