The 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri, Istanbul, on Wednesday, April 23, caused great panic in the megacity.
The claim that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) was not invited to the evaluation meeting held at the AFAD Presidency after the earthquake has resonated widely in the public.
THERE IS A STATEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENCY
A statement was also made by the Communication Presidency's Disinformation Combat Center regarding the news reported by some media outlets. The statement made from the X account included the following expressions: "The claim that 'they held an earthquake meeting at AFAD without IMM' is not true."
"IMM VICE PRESIDENT NURI ASLAN WAS ALSO PRESENT"
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, and Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu attended the evaluation meeting held at the AFAD Presidency regarding the earthquake that occurred in Istanbul. In addition to the officials of the relevant institutions, IMM Vice President Nuri Aslan was also present at the meeting in question.
"LEFT AFAD CENTER AFTER PRESS STATEMENTS"
Nuri Aslan is clearly visible in the photos related to the evaluation meeting. Aslan left the AFAD center after the press statements following the meeting. Therefore, the claims that "IMM was not invited to the evaluation meetings related to the earthquake" are completely unfounded. Do not trust baseless claims aimed at manipulating the public.
