A car speeding in Kağıthane first hit a vehicle and then struck a woman walking on the sidewalk. As a result of the collision, the woman's leg was severed, and she was taken to the hospital. Despite all the efforts of the doctors, the woman lost her life.
A terrible accident occurred on Wednesday, March 19, around 16:30 in the Talatpaşa neighborhood of Kağıthane district in Istanbul. According to the information obtained, the driver of a Fiat car with license plate 34 GCZ 594 lost control of the steering wheel and first hit a vehicle, then crossed to the opposite direction and struck Gülsüm Akgün (48), who was walking on the sidewalk.
THE WOMAN'S LEG WAS SEVERED
As a result of the impact, the woman's leg was severed. Citizens who witnessed the accident reported the situation to the police and medical teams. The medical teams that arrived at the scene provided first aid to Akgün.
SAD NEWS CAME FROM THE HOSPITAL
The woman, whose leg was severed, was taken to Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu City Hospital in Okmeydanı for treatment. It was learned that Akgün passed away despite all the interventions made.
THE DRIVER WAS ARRESTED
The 35-year-old driver, Nurhan Barut, who caused the accident, was detained by the police. After the procedures at the police station, Barut was referred to the courthouse and was arrested and sent to prison. Meanwhile, moments when the vehicle that caused the accident descended rapidly from the slope were captured by security cameras. An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.

Elvan Bulut, who witnessed the accident, said, "The vehicle descended rapidly down the slope. Then it hit my car. After that, it hit a barrier. From there, it struck the woman who was walking up from below. The woman's leg was severed. Afterwards, we called the fire department, police, and medical teams. They took the injured woman to the hospital. My car also has damage. The door is broken, and the rim and tire are damaged," he said.
