World-famous singer Katy Perry, along with other celebrities, went to space with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's rocket company. After a 10-minute visit, Katy Perry and five other women returned from space.
"California Gurls," "Dark Horse," and "Roar" are hit songs that made Katy Perry famous worldwide, and she has recently made headlines with her space journey. Perry traveled to space aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket with an all-female crew.
This special flight, conducted by Blue Origin, owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, included former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, human rights activist Amanda Nguyen, journalist Gayle King, investor Kerianne Flynn, and Bezos's fiancée Lauren Sánchez.
LASTED 10 MINUTES
The journey conducted as part of the NS-31 mission aboard the rocket named "New Shepard" lasted 10 minutes. The spacecraft flew in space for about 4 minutes before returning to Earth. The New Shepard rocket, which traveled approximately 100 kilometers upward and slightly above the Kármán line, reached speeds of more than three times the speed of sound. Blue Origin has been conducting paid flights lasting 10 minutes as part of space tourism since 2021.
A FIRST IN 60 YEARS
For the first time in over 60 years, an all-female crew will participate in a space mission. The last time this happened was in 1963 when Russian-born astronaut Valentina Tereshkova went to space.
