Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) spokesperson Nkweto Tembwe said this has been taken as a sign of respect for the late leader who was also patron of the soccer governing body.
"This means that all super, division one, two, three, Futsal and indeed any other matches organized under the ambit of the Football Association of Zambia, at provincial and district levels will not take place this weekend," he said in a statement posted on the association's Facebook page.
Sata, 77, died on Tuesday night at London's King Edward VII Hospital where he had gone for medical check-ups.
