A warehouse supervisor, who was sought in connection with the theft of approximately 19,000 medications worth around 15 million lira from the radiology warehouse of a hospital in Adana, has been detained. The suspect, who claimed he was threatened due to his debts, confessed to the theft but alleged that he only received the portion of the stolen medications worth 2 million lira.

THE FRAUD SURFACED AFTER HE WENT ON LEAVE
The incident occurred in the Radiology department of Balcalı Hospital of Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, located in the central Sarıçam district of Adana. According to the information obtained, 36-year-old C.S., who worked as the warehouse supervisor in the department, went on annual leave. During this period, 51-year-old S.A.B., who took over his duties, noticed a serious shortage in the warehouse stock. Suspicious of the situation, S.A.B. conducted a detailed inventory count and determined that exactly 19,000 boxes of medicine were missing.
THE SUSPECTED WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR WAS CAUGHT
In the assessment conducted, it was determined that the total market value of the missing medicines was around 15 million liras. After S.A.B. immediately reported the situation to the hospital administration, attempts were made to reach the warehouse supervisor C.S., who was on leave, by phone, but the individual did not answer the calls. When the suspect could not be reached, the administration notified the police. As a result of the extensive search efforts initiated by the security forces, C.S. was apprehended and taken into custody yesterday evening.
DEFENSE OF "I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE OTHER MEDICINES"
It was learned that the warehouse supervisor, taken to the police station, partially admitted his guilt in his initial statement. In his statement, the suspect C.S. claimed, "I had a debt, they threatened me. That's why I took and sold medicines worth 2 million liras. I have no knowledge of the other medicines," thus denying any involvement in the missing medicines worth 13 million liras. The multifaceted investigation launched to determine the fate of the remaining missing medicines is being continued and deepened.
