In the investigation into FETÖ's current structure, 2 suspects, including Esma Batmaz, the daughter of Kemal Batmaz, one of the critical figures in the organization's July 15 coup attempt, were arrested. The suspects, detained in operations carried out in Istanbul and Muğla, had their connections with the organization's activities abroad also scrutinized within the scope of the investigation.
In the investigation into FETÖ's current structure, 2 suspects, including Esma Batmaz, the daughter of Kemal Batmaz, the organization's so-called Air Forces leader who directed the July 15 coup attempt from Akıncı Base, were arrested.
THEY WERE DETAINED IN ISTANBUL AND MUĞLA Esma Batmaz and Hilal Köseoğlu, who were detained within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to uncover FETÖ's current activities, have completed their procedures at the police station.
After undergoing health checks, the two suspects were then referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. Batmaz and Köseoğlu, whose statements were taken by the prosecutor's office, were sent to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest.
The judge decided to arrest both suspects.
OPERATION DETAILS REVEALED Within the scope of the investigation, operations were carried out at 4 addresses in Istanbul and Muğla on August 28. During searches at the addresses in Istanbul, Esma Batmaz was detained, while during the searches in Muğla, Hilal Köseoğlu, the daughter of Bilal Köseoğlu, who was dismissed by decree law while serving as a judge at the Ankara Courthouse and is currently in prison, was caught.
Numerous digital materials seized at the addresses were taken for examination.
Kemal Batmaz GERMANY CONNECTION UNDER SCRUTINY In the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that there is information indicating that Yakup Aykın, who lives in Mannheim, Germany, holds a responsible role in FETÖ's current guidance activities for high school and university students.
Aykın is also alleged to have participated in the activities of associations linked to the Germany-based organization and, through an educational consultancy firm, to have facilitated the education in Germany of children of individuals who have faced legal proceedings or are in prison due to FETÖ investigations.
The statement noted that Esma Batmaz and Hilal Köseoğlu were among the students who received education in Germany.
ARRES It was stated that the investigation was conducted in coordination with the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Anti-Terrorism and Intelligence branches and the National Intelligence Organization.
It was reported that arrest warrants were also issued for 2 suspects determined to be abroad within the scope of the investigation.
