Following the armed attacks in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, 30 suspects were detained in İzmir for allegedly spreading misleading information on social media.
After the armed attacks carried out at 2 schools in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, a total of 30 suspects, including 25 minors, were detained in İzmir on the grounds of publicly spreading fear and panic along with misleading information on social media.
THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE MADE A STATEMENT ON THE MATTER
In a statement from the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated, "Following the armed attacks carried out on 14.04.2026 and 15.04.2026 against schools located in the provinces of Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, an immediate investigation has been initiated by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding social media posts and reports containing threats targeting our educational institutions within the borders of İzmir. As part of the ongoing efforts; operations were conducted against suspects identified to have made threatening posts that could disrupt public order and aimed to create fear and panic among the public, as well as those who publicly spread misleading information. In this context, a total of 30 suspects, including 25 minors and 5 adults, have been detained for the crimes of 'Creating Fear and Panic Among the Public' and 'Publicly Spreading Misleading Information.'
