While prices for stationery products have increased by 30 percent compared to last year, the total cost of needs such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and paints can reach up to 10,000 lira. It is also noted that prices for school uniforms have doubled compared to last year.
Before the new academic year, students and parents have accelerated their school preparations. With the school bell set to ring shortly, stationery stores are experiencing a rush of shoppers, while price increases are straining family budgets.
According to NTV's report, there has been a price increase of approximately 30 percent compared to last year across many products, from notebooks to pens, paints, and school bags. The cost of the long supply lists sent by some schools to parents is reaching thousands of liras.
SCHOOL BAGS COST UP TO 4 THOUSAND LIRAS
As one of the most important items in school shopping, bag prices vary greatly depending on brand and model. In stores, school bags start at around 1,500 liras, while some models can go up to 3-4 thousand liras.
Water bottle prices also vary widely depending on brand and model.
THE COST OF FILLING THE BAG CAN REACH 10 THOUSAND LIRAS
Employees of stores selling stationery and school supplies state that product prices vary depending on the preferred brand and model.
It is noted that with the addition of pens, notebooks, paints, and other needs to the school bag, the total shopping amount can reach up to 10 thousand liras.
SCHOOL UNIFORM PRICES HAVE DOUBLED
Another item straining parents' budgets is school uniforms. While it is stated that uniform prices have seen increases of up to two-fold compared to last year, some businesses are said to continue selling their current stock at last year's prices.
A representative of a store selling school uniforms stated that three-piece sets start at 2,100 liras, t-shirts are sold for 550 liras, and sweatshirts for 950 liras.

For students starting preschool education and first grade of primary school, the adaptation week will begin on September 7. The first school bell for the new academic year for all students will ring on Monday, September 14.
