Hüseyin Beyazyıldız, a 30-year-old man who had not been heard from for a while in Beyoğlu, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the heart in his home, entered by his brother with a spare key. While an unlicensed gun and empty shell casings were found in the house, attention was drawn to a note on the laptop box saying "Give it to an African person studying aquatic products" and the fact that Beyazyıldız had appointed his brother as executor through his Apple account. The investigation into the suspicious death continues.
A suspicious death occurred in Yenilehir District of Beyoğlu, Istanbul, on Monday, May 4, at 19:45. According to information received, Hasan Beyazyıldız (37) entered his brother's house with a spare key after not hearing from him for a while. The elder brother found his brother Hüseyin Beyazyıldız (30) motionless on a sofa in the living room. Upon notification, health teams arriving at the scene determined that Hüseyin Beyazyıldız had passed away.
FOUND SHOT IN THE HEART
In the initial examinations at the scene by police teams, it was determined that Hüseyin Beyazyıldız had been shot in the heart. It was learned that there were no residues under Beyazyıldız's fingernails, and no signs of assault or sharp object injuries were found on his body. It was also determined that there were no signs of forced entry on the doors and windows of the house.
"LET MY COMPUTER BE GIVEN TO AN AFRICAN PERSON"
During the work of the crime scene investigation teams, an unlicensed pistol and its cartridges were found next to the sofa, and a spent casing was found under the sofa, along with a cartridge in an ashtray. Additionally, on the laptop box, believed to belong to Hüseyin Beyazyıldız, there was a note that read, "Let it be given to an African person studying fisheries."
RELEASED FROM PRISON APPROXIMATELY 7 MONTHS AGO
It was learned that in the investigations conducted by police teams regarding the incident, Hüseyin Beyazyıldız had a total of 11 criminal records, primarily including 'Drug use' and 'Violation of the Firearms Law.' It was also learned that his elder brother, Hasan Beyazyıldız, came to the house after not hearing from his brother, opened the door with his own spare key, found his brother motionless, stated that his brother had no enemies, and had been released from prison about 6-7 months ago.
APPOINTED HIS BROTHER AS GUARDIAN VIA APPLE ACCOUNT
It was learned that Hüseyin Beyazyıldız, who was found dead, had appointed his brother as a guardian via his Apple account on April 9. Following the prosecutor's examinations and the work of the crime scene investigation teams, Beyazyıldız's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue to determine the exact cause of death. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the death, which is considered suspicious.

This has prompted technology giants, especially mobile phone manufacturers, to integrate cloud features that work with existing mobile phone systems into a model where a person can appoint someone as a guardian while still alive, within the scope of digital legacy. In this way, we can appoint a person as a guardian while alive, and they can be added to your phone as a digital legacy contact. Thus, if a request is needed to access that information after death, the appointed guardian can easily access that data and information."
"AN ID IS GIVEN; ACCESS TO INFORMATION IS PROVIDED VIA THIS NUMBER"
Demircan said, "After Apple defines the digital legacy contact, Apple gives this person an ID, a number, and requests that this number be stored permanently and immutably. Later, if a death occurs, to enable access to that data, the legacy contact must report that number and the death certificate to Apple. After this notification process, the legacy contact can access all digital assets of the deceased on Apple. They can access almost all data stored on iCloud, including files, notes, and photos. If stored on iCloud, they can access emails, keychain, and all passwords stored within it, and in case of any issue, they can intervene quickly. After a death occurs, the digital legacy contact needs to apply to Apple via the app. Once this application is made, the inheritance process, i.e., the transfer, takes place, and they can access that person's digital legacy. When you define someone as a guardian, they cannot access this data while you are alive. The person you define as a legacy contact must report both the special number assigned to them and the death certificate to Apple, and then access is provided through the access data sent by Apple. Defining someone does not mean they have direct access."
"MANY PHONE COMPANIES SUPPORT THE 'DIGITAL LEGACY CONTACT' DEFINITION"
Demircan said, "There have been serious legal problems in the past regarding digital legacy. This happened especially with cryptocurrencies, as well as data stored on mobile phones and related cloud systems. Critical information for the family of the deceased being stored in the cloud, their need to access that information, but the long duration of court and other processes preventing access, and in most cases, phone manufacturers not allowing access to this data, were serious issues. Today, many phone companies support defining a digital legacy contact, and after this definition, it is possible to remotely access all data of the deceased. While the defined digital legacy contact can directly access all data of the deceased, they also have the authority to give instructions to permanently delete all data of the deceased without needing approval from anyone else."
