33 DEAD CATS FOUND
Those who saw dead cats in garbage bags found in front of a garbage container on Adnan Kahveci Street in Barış Neighborhood around 10:00 AM yesterday reported it. Police teams arriving at the scene determined that there were a total of 33 dead cats, some of them kittens, in the bags. An investigation was initiated to determine the cause of death and who or who dumped them in the trash.
STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
The Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office also made a written statement on the matter. The statement said, "Upon the report, examinations by teams arriving at the scene found 33 dead cats, both adult and kittens, left in front of a garbage container on the street. Regarding the incident, an investigation has been immediately launched by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Environmental, Zoning, Forestry, and Crimes Against Animals Investigation Bureau under the 'Opposition to the Animal Protection Law No. 5199'. Efforts are being meticulously carried out to clarify all aspects of the incident and identify those responsible."
VETERINARIAN DETAINED
In a second statement later from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was said, "As a result of the investigations, one veterinarian deemed to be connected to the incident has been detained on the orders of the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The investigation continues meticulously in all aspects."
